The prolific Watford and Super Eagles Striker 'Odion Ighalo' who is one of the highest goal scorers in the English Premier League this season, has been included in the Nigeria U23 Dream Team VI for the Rio 2016 Olympics as one of the over-aged players.
Speaking with newsmen, the voted Goal Nigeria player of the Year 2015 winner 'Ighalo' stressed, "I won’t shift focus and I don’t want to get tired of what I am doing. I will keep on working hard for both the Eagles and my club hoping that next year would be more profitable and exciting than 2015,"
Meanwhile, Coach Samson Siasia spoke extensively on his strong will to have Ighalo drafted in his Squad for the Rio Olympics this year, “We need him to score goals for us. Odion is the only Super Eagles player playing and scoring goals in the Premiership," .
However, the gaffer is trying to be cautious as revealed in his subsequently statement, “I have some players I am thinking about but the truth is that since the tournament is still six months away, we have to be cautious because the form of the players would be a factor" and that "We cannot pick players who are in form now only for them to lose form in August."
Surprisingly, Coach Siasia who had lead Nigeria to a silver medal at U20 World Cup in 2005 with John Mikel Obi bagging the second Most Valuable Player in that tournament, has equally given Mikel another chance as one of the over-aged players provided he maintains his good form.
