Even if Manchester City sacks Coach Manuel Pallegrini at the end of this season, he would leave a very honorable impression at the club as he has won this season's Carling Cup making him join the list of the coaches that won laurels for them.
Wembly Stadium witnessed a very competitve match between the two English giants 'Manchester City' and 'Liverpool' as 90 minutes of play was not enough to separate the two sides, forcing each other into extra-time until the Referee decided that the battle would be settled by penalties which Manchester City eventually won by 3-1.
However, midfielder Fernandinho had opened the scoring for Manchester City as early as 49 minutes into the game which was followed by several scoring chances but were wasteful in front of goal until Liverpool equalized through Coutinho at 83 minutes which was their only shot on target during the match, forcing them into an extra-time of play which also ended in a draw '1-1'.
Eventually, the penalties shootout was in the favour of Manchester City, thanks to the City's Goal Keeper 'Willy Caballero' who brilliantly saved three penalties taken by Lucas Leiva, Phillipe Coutinho and Adam Lallana after which the City's midfield maestro 'Yaya Toure' calmly converted his penalty kick as the last taker before the Referee blew the final whistle.
